Joan, C (Neidhard) Marx, 90, loving wife of the late James (Jim) Marx for 62 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 17, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Naomi (Hayes), stepmother Louise (Bailey) Neidhard, stepsister Cheryl Neidhard and her loving and dedicated husband Jimmy. Joan’s great grandfather, Andrew Neidhard of Taylor’s Creek, established the Neidhard funeral home in 1860.
As the only child of Naomi and Raymond Neidhard, Joan was born on January 28, 1930. She graduated from Mother of Mercy H.S. where she was an active member of the drama club. Here she established many lifelong friends that she affectionately referred to as “The Club”.
Joan is best described as a kind and loving wife, mother, and friend. She was always so proud of her beautiful family, she was happiest when her friends and family were able to gather and enjoy her cooking. She expressed her love through playing with her grandkids and writing poetry for her loved ones.
Joan is survived by her 3 children, Cheryl (Dennis) Ramsey, Jeff (Patti), Amy (Sam) Trammel; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be private due to COVID-19 restrictions with the Burial at St. Aloysius Cemetery Catholic Church. A live steam of the Mass will be available on Tuesday, December 29 at 10:30 AM at the following link:

Cheryl, Jeff and Amy,
I was sorry to see the notice of the passing of your mom. She was such a happy and kind lady. She was so helpful when I was working on the family history. She generously shared her time and her stories.
One memory your mom told me from her younger years was of her dog named Penny. This dog would climb a tree and sit on the roof of the funeral home (Neidhard Funeral Home in Taylors Creek). Penny used to love to swim. They would always throw her in the creek and she loved it. Once during a flood, Penny was swept up in the current and had to be rescued by cousin Dick Minges. Penny had her picture in the paper for this. I hope that brought a smile to your face. She loved her family.
You and your families are in my thoughts and prayers.
Kay (Schmidt) Ryan
