Jerry Otting, 68, Died March 30, 2021, after a valiant struggle to recover from complications which arose during a recent illness. Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved parents Ruth (Dollenmayer) and Eugene J. Otting, Sr. He is survived by his dear brothers Eugene “Butch” (Barbara Rueve) Otting of Cincinnati and Charles (Miriam Dean) Otting of Gambier, Ohio. Jerry was the proud uncle of Jonathan (Laura Gassner) Otting, Michael Otting, Nathaniel Otting, and Jacob (Shannon Burns) Otting and caring great uncle of Benjamin Otting, Tobias Otting, and Meesh Burns. He was warmly embraced by the Jeanne and Bob Rueve Family as one of their own. Jerry also leaves behind a multitude of cherished friends, especially Greg and Tina Roos and their family. Jerry attended Elder High School. He held a variety of jobs over the years, and his favorite one was working in the kitchen at Habig’s in Westwood. Jerry loved nothing more than having a beer, coffee, or a meal with friends and family. He also enjoyed studying history and visiting historic sites. Jerry frequently made use of the services of the Cheviot Branch Library, so donations are suggested to the Library Foundation of Cincinnati and Hamilton County marked for the Cheviot Branch in Jerry’s memory, 800 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202, or online at foundation.cincinnatilibrary.org. At a later date, the family will host a celebration of Jerry’s life for friends and family.
